I am a Freshman wrestling Varsity in high-school. I started wrestling in 4th grade at a wrestling club. I won every Novice match my first year. The second year I did not win a single match. I decided to dedicate to this sport and train really hard in the off season. Then in the last two years I placed high in the "Kids" states. I am an Honors student in high-school. It gets very hard trying to keep up with all the homework and studying when it’s the night or two before a match and all that I’m thinking about is my upcoming match, making weight and not eating and trying to train at the gym. It is very hard for me to not go by the kitchen without grabbing something to eat or drink. Only someone who has wrestled can understand what this is like, not my friends or my parents.

Tonight I have a key match in my seeding for Districts. It is against a Senior, who is picked to place very high in Atlantic City this year. I’m a little nervous because this match is against a really tough kid and this match will show me just where I stand against a tough kid. School has been tough with all the homework and trying to do extra credit projects because of not keeping up with the homework at the beginning of the semester.

The match last night did not turn out the way I was hoping. I let him get in on 2 outside singles, which were almost impossible to sprawl against, and on the 2nd takedown he got legs in really deep and turned me with a half nelson. I almost reversed him twice, but he managed to get away and I only got 1 point for an escape twice. The match ended 8-2, him on top. I was really disappointed with myself in the match and afterwards I was in a really bad mood and kept fighting with my parents because they wanted us to go to a friend’s house. I did not want to be by anybody I just wanted to sleep and be by myself. The 2nd marking period closed yesterday and I’m not really sure how I’m going to do in two of my subjects that I was having trouble in at the beginning of the 2nd marking period.

Today is the day before we wrestle a good team in our conference. I’m only about 2 pounds over because I kept my weight down over the weekend. I’m in a pretty good mood, and I’m not going to have to work out after our practice because I’ll be under after the practice.

Tonight I am wrestling another key match for District seeding, and the kid is ranked high in the state. This is going to be a big match for me, and I’m kind of nervous. I’m about 5 tenths under weight, and I had a little bit of cereal for breakfast. Now, all I have to do is make it through a full day of school.

Well, they did not send out the kid who I was supposed to wrestle. I’m disappointed because I was looking forward to wrestling him. It is going to have to wait till Districts. I cannot wait till February 1st when we get the two pound allowance.
